A fire broke out in the Fujairah Oil Industry Zone following a drone strike, the emirate’s media office said on Tuesday, adding that no injuries were reported. Meanwhile, the United Arab Emirates announced a temporary and complete closure of its airspace.

The United Arab Emirates suspended operations at its Ruwais Refinery last week as a precaution after a drone attack triggered a fire in the industrial area where the facility is located.

US President Donald Trump on Sunday called for nations including South Korea, France, China and Britain to help ensure safe passage in the Strait of Hormuz.

Iran’s foreign minister Abbas Araghchi on Monday said the Strait of Hormuz remains shut only to “enemies and those supporting their aggression”.

Operations at the Shah Gas Field remained suspended on Tuesday following a drone strike, while a separate attack sparked a fire in the Fujairah Oil Industry Zone. No injuries were reported in either incident, according to local media offices.

The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations said an unidentified projectile struck a tanker about 23 nautical miles east of Fujairah, causing minor structural damage. Monday’s attack on the Shah field, located around 180 km southwest of Abu Dhabi and one of the world’s largest sour gas fields, has added to disruptions impacting the UAE’s energy sector.
