Gujarat-bound ship among two vessels seized by Iran in Strait of Hormuz

Iran's paramilitary Revolutionary Guard Corps has seized two commercial container ships in the Strait of Hormuz over alleged maritime violations. According to Iranian state television, the vessels, operated by the Switzerland-based MSC Shipping, include the MSC Francesca . Ship tracking data indicates that the vessels were intercepted seven to eight nautical miles from Iranian shores, placing them within Iranian territory. The ships were reportedly crossing the strait without prior permission from Iranian authorities, following a path close to the coast. One of the seized ships was en route from Dubai to India's Mundra Port in Gujarat. It remains unclear if there are any Indian crew members on board the vessels. The incident occurred amid ongoing tensions in the Strait of Hormuz, following recent actions by American forces in the region.
