Iran has launched the 48th wave of missile and drone attacks against Israel and American military positions across the Middle East, as the West Asia war continues to intensify. The latest barrage is part of Tehran’s ongoing military campaign known as “Operation Sadiq 4" (also referred to as True Promise 4), which Iranian authorities say is aimed at retaliating against US and Israeli strikes on Iranian territory.
According to statements attributed to Iran’s military command, the latest assault has been named “Ya Qamar Bani Hashem", referencing a revered historical and religious figure. Officials said the operation was dedicated to martyrs Shirazi and Ebrahimzadeh, and involved a coordinated barrage of ballistic missiles and attack drones targeting Israeli positions and American military facilities in the region.
Targets Across Northern Israel and the Region
Iranian sources claimed the strikes were directed at targets in northern Israel, including the Galilee, the Golan Heights and Haifa, while also targeting US military bases in the Middle East. The barrage reportedly used a mix of solid-fuel Khyber-Shaker missiles and liquid-fuel Qadr ballistic missiles, along with armed drones.
Missile alerts and air-raid sirens have repeatedly sounded across northern and central Israel as Iranian and allied forces continued coordinated barrages, while Israel’s air-defence systems intercepted many of the incoming projectiles.
Iranian authorities also said the latest wave was carried out simultaneously with Hezbollah fighters in Lebanon, who have been launching rockets and drones toward northern Israel as part of the widening confrontation.
Escalating Regional War
The attacks come amid a rapidly expanding regional conflict involving Iran, Israel and the United States, which has triggered missile strikes, air raids and proxy attacks across multiple countries in the Middle East.
Since the war escalated in late February, Iran has launched thousands of missiles and drones at Israeli territory and US-linked military targets across the Gulf, while Israel and the United States have carried out extensive airstrikes on Iranian military and nuclear infrastructure.
The conflict has also spread to other parts of the region, with Iranian strikes reported in Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates and Jordan, where many missiles and drones were intercepted by local and US air-defence systems.
Growing Concerns of Wider War
Military analysts warn that the sustained waves of missile attacks signal a war of attrition, with Iran relying on its large missile and drone arsenal while Israel and the United States continue large-scale aerial strikes.
The escalation has already disrupted shipping routes and energy markets across the Gulf region, raising fears that the conflict could widen further if more regional actors become involved.
As both sides continue exchanging strikes, international calls for de-escalation are growing, but there is little indication that the fighting will subside in the immediate future.
