‘Oppose Terrorist Schemes’: Iran Security Chief Claims ‘Epstein Network’ Plotting 9/11-Style Attack

Ali Larijani claimed Jeffrey Epstein’s network plans a 9/11-style attack to blame Iran. He emphasized Iran opposes terrorism and defends against US and Israeli aggression.

Ali Larijani has alleged that members of the late financier Jeffrey Epstein’s network could be planning a major terror-style incident similar to the September 11 attacks and falsely blaming Iran for it.

In a statement circulating online, Larijani claimed he had heard that “remaining members of Epstein’s network" were devising a conspiracy to stage an attack resembling the 9/11 attacks and attribute responsibility to Iran. He added that Tehran fundamentally opposes such terrorist schemes and insisted the country has no war with the American people.

Larijani said Iran was currently defending itself against what he described as aggression launched by the United States and Israel. According to the statement, Iran would continue resisting in order to “teach the aggressors a lesson".

The remarks come amid heightened tensions in the region as the conflict between Iran and its adversaries escalates, with both sides exchanging sharp rhetoric and military threats.

Larijani is one of Iran’s most prominent political figures and a longtime insider in the country’s power structure. He previously served as Speaker of the Iranian Parliament from 2008 to 2020, and earlier held key national security positions, including Secretary of Iran’s Supreme Security Council, where he played a role in negotiations over Iran’s nuclear programme. Larijani has also been a senior adviser to Iran’s leadership and remains an influential voice in Iranian politics.

His comments add to the growing war of narratives between Tehran and Washington as tensions between the two countries continue to rise.
