Bangladesh Violence News Today Live Updates: Student leader Sharif Osman Hadi’s funeral prayers will be held at 2 PM on Saturday at Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban in in Dhaka. He will be buried beside Bangladesh’s national poet Kazi Nazrul Islam near the Dhaka University Central Mosque.

Hadi was shot in broad daylight in Dhaka last week by masked, bike-borne attackers. Sharif Osman Hadi died in Singapore, triggering nationwide unrest, arson attacks and mob violence.

What followed Hadi’s death has been widespread unrest across Bangladesh. Media houses, cultural centres and political offices were attacked. A Hindu man, Dipu Chandra Das, was lynched and burnt to death in Mymensingh over alleged blasphemy.

Bangladesh now faces its worst bout of violence in months, just weeks before crucial elections scheduled for February 2026.

Bangladesh’s Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus on Friday condemned mob violence by fringe elements, calling on citizens to resist violence, hatred and incitement at a critical moment of democratic transition.
