Dow Jones Today | US Stock Market Highlights: The S&P 500 fell on Friday (March 13), while oil prices extended their gains as investors awaited further developments in the Iran war. The broad-based index shed 0.61%, putting it 5% below its recent high. The Nasdaq Composite declined 0.93%, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average shed 119.38 points, or 0.25%.
The benchmark, which scored a new low for the year on Friday, is headed for a 1.5% loss this week, putting it on pace to see its first three-week losing streak in about a year. The 30-stock Dow is heading for a 1.9% slide, while the tech-heavy Nasdaq has fallen 1.3% week to date.
The recent rally in oil prices continued on Friday. West Texas Intermediate crude futures settled up 3.11% at $98.71 per barrel. Brent futures settled higher by 2.67% at $103.14 a barrel. Brent had closed above $100 for the first time since August 2022 on Thursday.
